Previously: A cruel orphanage director shoves a trembling boy aside, but when billionaire Lorenzo Moretti sees the birthmark on his wrist, everything changes—the boy is his stolen son, and the truth is about to explode.

The Cellar of Secrets

The parlor erupted into chaos. Madame Vane's shrill protests filled the air as the guards led her away, her gold spectacles askew, her pinstripe suit suddenly looking less imposing. But Lorenzo and Sofia paid her no mind. Their world had narrowed to the small boy in their arms, the boy they had searched for every single day for four years.

Lucas, still dazed, clung to Sofia's cape, his small fingers digging into the white fur. "You're... you're my parents?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper.

Sofia sobbed, nodding. "Yes, darling. Yes, we are. We never stopped looking for you."

But as the truth settled over them, a new question emerged from the shadows of the parlor. How had Lucas ended up here? Who had taken him? And why had Madame Vane been so eager to hide him away in the cellar?

Lorenzo's jaw tightened. He handed Lucas to Sofia and turned to one of the guards. "Bring her back," he ordered. "I want answers."

The guard hesitated. "Sir, she's been detained—"

"Bring her back," Lorenzo repeated, his voice cold as steel. "Now."

Moments later, Madame Vane was shoved into the parlor, her hands bound, her face a mask of defiance. But there was fear in her eyes—a flicker of something dark and desperate.

"You can't do this," she spat. "I have rights. This is an orphanage, and I am—"

"You are a criminal," Lorenzo cut her off, his voice rising. "You have been running a trafficking ring out of this facility. Selling children to the highest bidder. Is that what you were doing with my son?"

Madame Vane's lips pressed into a thin line. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Sofia stood, still holding Lucas, her eyes blazing with a mother's fury. "Don't lie to us. We have proof. We've been investigating for years. The Clearwater Orphanage has a pattern—children disappearing, records falsified, adoptions that never happened. And my son was one of them."

Lucas stirred in her arms, looking up at her with wide eyes. "Is it true?" he asked. "Did she... did she take me?"

Sofia's voice broke. "Yes, baby. She took you from us when you were just two years old. You had a fever, and the nurse at the hospital—she was paid to let you go."

Lorenzo stepped closer to Madame Vane, his face inches from hers. "Where is the nurse? Who else is involved?"

Madame Vane laughed, a brittle, hollow sound. "You think you can scare me? I've been doing this for twenty years. I have connections. You have no idea what you're dealing with."

But Lorenzo didn't flinch. "My security team has already found the hidden files in your office. Bank records, names, dates. It's all there. You're going to prison for a long time, Madame Vane. And everyone who helped you is going down with you."

For the first time, Madame Vane's composure cracked. Her face went pale, her hands trembling. "You can't prove anything," she whispered.

Sofia pulled out her phone, showing a photo of a woman in a nurse's uniform. "This woman was found two hours ago at a private clinic in the city. She's already confessed. She told us everything. The baby was taken on the orders of a man named Victor Harlan. Do you know him?"

Madame Vane's eyes went wide. "Victor? No. He's... he's dead."

"Is he?" Lorenzo asked, his voice low. "Because my investigators have reason to believe he's alive and well, living under a false identity. And he's not the only one. This is bigger than you, Madame Vane. Much bigger."

Lucas buried his face in Sofia's shoulder, his small body shaking. "I want to go home," he whimpered. "Please, I want to go home."

Sofia held him tighter, tears streaming down her cheeks. "You're coming home with us, sweetheart. We're never letting you go again."

But as they turned to leave the parlor, a new figure appeared in the doorway—a man in a long black coat, his face shadowed by a wide-brimmed hat. He stood motionless, watching them, and for a moment, the air grew cold.

"Mr. Moretti," the man said, his voice smooth and menacing. "It's been a long time."

Lorenzo's blood ran cold. He knew that voice. "Victor," he breathed.

The man smiled, revealing a row of perfect white teeth. "I see you've found my little project. But this isn't over. You may have won this round, but the game isn't finished."

And then he was gone, disappearing into the shadows of the corridor as quickly as he had appeared.

Sofia clutched Lucas tighter, her heart pounding. "Lorenzo, what do we do?"

Lorenzo's eyes were fixed on the empty doorway, his jaw set with determination. "We end this," he said. "Tonight."

he said. "Tonight."
