Previously: A gold-digger thinks she's robbing a blind old woman blind. But the matriarch's dark glasses hide a camera — and a fury that's about to explode.

The Lawyer's Revelation

The next morning, Vivienne sat in her lawyer's office, the mahogany desk between them covered in legal documents. Ruby played quietly in the corner with a small toy, her tears from the night before dried but the memory still fresh. Vivienne had exchanged her dark sunglasses for clear reading glasses, but her eyes held the same cold fire.

"She's claiming what?" Vivienne asked, her voice flat.

"Pregnancy," her lawyer, Margaret Chen, said, sliding a piece of paper across the desk. "She's filed a paternity claim against your grandson, Julian. If it holds, she could walk away with a significant portion of the estate — including the tiara."

Vivienne picked up the paper, her eyes scanning the legal jargon. "This is absurd. Julian would never..."

"He's been dating her for six months," Margaret interrupted gently. "And the timing... it's convenient. But there's more."

She pulled out a second document, this one sealed with a red ribbon. "Chloe-Mae's attorney also filed a motion to dismiss the theft charges, claiming you entrapped her. She's saying you knew she was a thief and set her up."

Vivienne let out a sharp laugh. "I didn't set her up. I simply watched her steal."

"The judge might not see it that way. Especially if she plays the pregnancy card."

Vivienne leaned back in her chair, her mind racing. This wasn't just about a stolen tiara anymore. It was about legacy, about protecting her family from a predator who was willing to destroy them all.

"I need proof," Vivienne said. "Proof that she's lying about the pregnancy, proof that she was planning to steal from the moment she met Julian."

Margaret nodded. "I have a private investigator on it. But there's something else you should know."

She hesitated, and Vivienne's heart clenched. "What?"

"Chloe-Mae isn't just after the tiara. She's been in contact with a fence in Amsterdam, someone who deals in stolen antiques. She was planning to sell everything and disappear."

Vivienne's hands tightened on the armrests of her chair. "Then we need to move fast. Before she disappears."

"There's a hearing tomorrow morning," Margaret said. "We can present the video evidence, but we need to be prepared for her to counterattack."

Vivienne stood, her resolve solidifying. "Let her counterattack. I've been fighting battles longer than she's been alive."

That evening, Vivienne sat in her study, the video from her glasses playing on the large screen. She watched Chloe-Mae's sneer, heard her cruel words, saw Ruby's tears. Her heart ached, but her mind was clear.

She called Julian, her grandson, who was currently on a business trip in London. He answered on the second ring, his voice tense. "Grandmother, I heard what happened. Is Ruby okay?"

"Ruby is fine," Vivienne said. "But we have a bigger problem. Chloe-Mae is claiming she's pregnant with your child."

The silence on the other end was deafening. "That's... that's impossible," Julian finally said. "We... we never..."

"I know," Vivienne said. "But she's trying to manipulate the system. I need you to come home. Tomorrow."

"I'll be on the first flight."

As she hung up, Vivienne looked at the photo on her desk — a picture of Julian as a boy, laughing on a beach. She would do anything to protect him, to protect Ruby, to protect the legacy her late husband had built from nothing.

The next morning, the courtroom was packed. Chloe-Mae sat at the defendant's table, her hair perfectly styled, her eyes red-rimmed as if she'd been crying. She wore a modest dress, her hand placed protectively over her flat stomach.

"Your Honor," her attorney began, "my client is a victim here. She was lured into a trap by a bitter old woman who wanted to control her grandson's life."

Vivienne didn't flinch. She let the lies hang in the air, waiting for her turn.

When the judge called her to speak, Vivienne stood slowly, the video evidence in her hand. "Your Honor, I have footage that shows exactly what happened. Not just the theft, but the threats against my granddaughter."

The courtroom went silent as the video played. Chloe-Mae's sneer filled the screen, her voice clear. "Stay down on the floor!" Then Ruby's plea, and Chloe-Mae's threatening hand.

When it ended, Chloe-Mae's face was pale, her composure shattered.

"That doesn't prove anything," her attorney sputtered. "It's a performance."

"The performance was hers," Vivienne said, her voice steel. "But I'm not done. I have a witness who can testify that Chloe-Mae tried to sell the tiara to a fence in Amsterdam."

The judge's eyes narrowed. "Is this witness in the courtroom?"

"He's outside," Vivienne said. "And he has proof."

As the witness took the stand, Chloe-Mae's mask finally slipped. She looked at Vivienne with pure hatred, and for a moment, Vivienne saw the real woman beneath the charm — a predator, cornered but still dangerous.
