Previously: A retired military intelligence sergeant, blind and seated in a high-society Parisian restaurant, faces down a ruthless heist leader. Her combat instincts prove deadlier than any weapon.

Retribution and Resolution

With explosive kinetic velocity, Martha moved. Her head slipped inside the weapon’s line of fire as the gun discharged into the ceiling with a deafening concussive boom, showering pulverized plaster. In the same fluid motion, her left palm slapped and redirected the slide outward with a hollow thud. Simultaneously, her right heel-palm struck Vance’s radial nerve, causing his wrist to buckle in an agonizing spasm. The weapon was ripped from his grasp, clattering onto the floor. In a blur of motion that seemed impossibly fast, Martha retrieved the Sig Sauer, flawlessly racking the slide backward with an authoritative metallic clack in less than half a second. Vance reeled backward, clutching his numb wrist, a strangled, gasping wheeze escaping his lips. “What the—how did you—” he stammered, his eyes wide with disbelief and terror. He stumbled backward, falling to his knees on the parquet floor, paralyzed as Martha calmly seated the warm, smoking steel barrel of his own pistol directly between his exposed eyes with dead-center military precision. Her carbon-fiber cane rested casually against her knee, a stark contrast to the lethal weapon she now wielded. Candlelit crystal reflections danced in her scarred, sightless eyes. “Twenty-four years in combat rescue taught me one thing,” Martha stated, her voice resonating with absolute lethal command. “I don’t need eyes to put a bullet between yours.” Vance stared, his eyes widening in petrified shock, his chest heaving rapidly as a bead of cold sweat traced a path down the bridge of his trembling nose, directly into the steel muzzle. The heist leader, the muscular brute, was utterly broken, defeated by a woman he had underestimated with fatal consequences. In the end, Martha’s true strength wasn't in her sight, but in her unwavering resolve and the deadly skills forged in the fires of war.
