Previously: A blind combat veteran's tactical prowess is tested when a desperate robber targets her in a desolate diner. But this is no ordinary victim, and the outcome is far from what anyone expected.

The Unexpected Showdown

Marcus, high on adrenaline and bravado, thrust the pistol’s muzzle even closer, his finger tightening on the trigger. But before he could complete his deadly intent, Hannah moved. It was a blur of military precision, a lifetime of training distilled into a fraction of a second. Her right hand exploded upwards, deflecting the gun barrel towards the ceiling with a sharp *crack*. In the same fluid motion, her left palm drove a bone-crunching heel strike directly into Marcus’s solar plexus. He gasped, a choked, wheezing sound of pure agony. Before he could recover, his wrist was caught in a vise-like grip, the cold steel of his own weapon now pressing against his temple as Hannah’s steely fingers secured his arm.

“What the—ghk!” Marcus stammered, eyes wide with shocked disbelief behind his soaked balaclava. Hannah’s face remained impassive, terrifyingly composed. She twisted his wrist with a sharp, cracking snap, disarming him instantly. With a swift, brutal kick, she buckled his lead knee, sending him crashing onto the wet linoleum with a heavy, splashing impact. The 9mm pistol clattered onto the tiles. “Safety was off. Your slide is rattling,” Hannah whispered, her voice a lethal, icy calm that sent a fresh wave of terror through Marcus. He could only shudder, paralyzed, tears of agony and fear beginning to pool along his lower eyelids.

Hannah knelt, her movements economical and precise. She picked up the pistol, her touch expert as she swiftly field-stripped the slide and dropped the magazine onto the table with crisp metallic clatters. She racked the chamber with one hand, the slide locking back with a decisive click. Aiming the disarmed frame directly between Marcus’s terrified eyes, she delivered her assessment with cutting, authoritative precision. “Three yards out, heavy limp on your left heel, cheap CLP gun oil. You’re sloppy.” Marcus could only lie there, defeated, his breath hitching in his chest, the stark reality of his mistake crashing down on him. He had targeted the wrong person entirely.
