Previously: A routine night in a first-class lounge turns deadly when a masked robber confronts a blind veteran. But this is no ordinary civilian.

Retribution in the Dark

The air crackled with a sudden, violent energy. In an instant, Sarah's carbon-fiber cane became a weapon, snapping upward like a piston. The sharp crack echoed through the lounge as it connected with Marcus's wrist, a brutal impact that sent his suppressed handgun flying. Before it could clatter to the floor, Sarah's left hand moved with lightning speed, intercepting the weapon in a fluid CQC disarm. The chamber clacked violently as she stripped the slide, her movements economical and precise, twisting his arm behind his back with practiced ease.

"How the hell... what are you?!"

Marcus gasped, the question ripped from his throat by a mixture of agony and disbelief. Sarah ignored him, her brow furrowing with ruthless efficiency as she leveraged his body weight, driving him down into a brutal spinal lock. He crashed violently to his knees upon the wet slate tiles, disarmed and pinned, his tactical bravado shattered. Sarah, with fluid grace, racked the stolen 9mm one-handed, the slide moving with a familiar, deadly rhythm. She leveled the muzzle directly between his trembling eyes, the flashing blue tarmac beacons casting an eerie glow on the scene.

"Retired Delta Force. And in the dark, you're the one who's blind."

Her voice was a low, lethal growl, devoid of emotion, filled only with finality. Marcus whimpered, tears of sheer terror welling in his eyes as his chin quivered uncontrollably. He was utterly defeated, his world reduced to the cold, unyielding muzzle of the weapon pressed against his temple. The storm outside raged on, but within the lounge, a different kind of tempest had passed, leaving behind a shattered robber and a combat veteran who proved that true sight comes not from the eyes, but from the spirit and the will to survive.
