Previously: When Julian's ruthless boss burst through the church doors, he didn't expect to hear the man call his bride 'daughter.' A shocking confrontation at the altar changes everything.

The silence that followed was suffocating. Edward stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes narrowing as he recognized the young man standing at the altar. The warm, apologetic smile on his face instantly hardened into a mask of pure fury. He looked from Julian to Clara, his chest rising and falling with rapid breaths.

"Julian?"

Edward bellowed, his voice dripping with venom.

"What is the meaning of this? Clara, is this the man you’ve been hiding from me? My own project manager?"

The Confrontation

Clara stepped forward, shielding Julian.

"Yes, Dad. This is Julian. I didn't tell you his name because I knew you would try to control this, just like you control everything else in your company."

Edward laughed bitterly, stepping closer to the altar. He ignored his daughter and pointed a finger directly at Julian.

"You cunning little climber,"

Edward sneered.

"You knew exactly who she was, didn't you? You targeted my daughter to secure your promotion. I trusted you with my company's biggest account, and you used it to worm your way into my family!"

Julian felt a cold sweat break out. He had worked eighty-hour weeks to prove himself to Edward, never once connecting his sweet, modest Clara—who worked as a public school teacher—to the billionaire tycoon who ran his corporate world. Clara had always used her mother's maiden name to keep her personal life private.

"Sir, I swear to you, I had no idea,"

Julian pleaded, holding Clara's trembling hand.

"I love Clara for who she is. I didn't even know she had a wealthy father until this very second."
"Do you honestly expect me to believe that?"

Edward barked.

"You have one minute to pack your things and leave this church, Julian. If you don't, I will ruin your career, blackball you from the industry, and ensure you never work in this city again."
