Previously: When nine-year-old Henry asked his wheelchair-bound stepmother Alice to dance at his father's wedding, everyone gasped. But what happened next defied all medical logic and exposed a deep family secret.

The ballroom erupted into a mixture of cheers and weeping as Alice stood tall, her hands trembling as she held onto Henry. But the miracle was short-lived. Within moments, Alice’s legs began to sway, and she collapsed back into the chair, gasping for air. The sudden physical exertion, combined with the overwhelming wave of emotion, had exhausted her. James rushed to her side, wrapping his arms around her as the wedding coordinator called for Dr. Evans, a close family friend who was among the guests.

In the quiet sanctuary of the bridal suite, Dr. Evans examined Alice while James paced the floor, his heart hammering in his chest. Henry sat quietly in the corner, clutching a small wooden cross his grandmother had given him.

"It's physically impossible," James muttered, rubbing his temples. "The specialists said the nerve damage was permanent. How did she just stand up?"

Dr. Evans sighed, looking from Alice to James.

"James, there is something about Alice's diagnosis that you need to understand," the doctor began softly. "Her physical injuries healed over a year ago. The paralysis she experienced wasn't purely structural anymore. It was functional—a psychosomatic block."

James stared at him, stunned.

"What do you mean?" James asked, his voice cracking.

Alice looked down, tears fresh on her face.

"I was afraid, James," she confessed. "After the accident, I felt so guilty. I survived while others didn't. And when you came into my life, you became my protector. I secretly feared that if I got better, if I didn't need you to take care of me anymore, you would realize I wasn't worth keeping. I built a prison in my own mind."

James fell silent, the weight of her words crushing him. He realized that his own overprotective nature, driven by his fear of losing her, had inadvertently reinforced her belief that she was only loved because she was fragile.
