The grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel was bathed in a warm, golden glow, filled with the joyous chatter of a hundred wedding guests. Yet, in the corner of the room, a quiet shadow lingered. Sophia, a beautiful woman with auburn hair, sat in her silver wheelchair, her long blue gown draped elegantly over her lifeless legs. Beside her stood her husband, Robert, looking handsome but exhausted in his sharp black tuxedo. For three years, Sophia had been confined to that chair, ever since a tragic car accident had shattered her spine—and her spirit. The doctors had repeatedly told her she would never walk again, and Robert had slowly accepted this grim reality, shielding her from the world.

Suddenly, the heavy silence surrounding Sophia was broken. Nine-year-old Ethan, Robert’s son from his previous marriage, broke away from the crowd. His brown hair was slightly tousled, and his eyes shone with a determination that seemed far too mature for his age. He walked straight up to Sophia, ignoring the warning glances from the adults.

With a bright, hopeful smile, Ethan reached out his small hand.

"Will you dance with me, Sophia?" he asked, his voice ringing clearly over the soft music.

A collective gasp rippled through the crowded ballroom. Guests turned to stare, whispering in hushed, shocked tones. Robert quickly stepped forward, his face tight with embarrassment and pain. He placed a hand on Ethan’s shoulder, trying to pull him back.

"Son, stop," Robert whispered urgently. "She can't dance. You know she can't."

But Ethan didn't budge. He looked directly at his father, his eyes fierce and unwavering.

"Yes she can," the boy insisted, his voice trembling with absolute conviction. "God has the last word."

Sophia felt a sudden tear slip down her cheek. Ethan’s words pierced through the thick armor of grief she had worn for years. As Ethan’s small, warm hand clasped hers, a strange, electric sensation surged through Sophia's body. She closed her eyes, took a deep, trembling breath, and did the impossible. With a slow, agonizing effort, Sophia began to rise. The room fell into absolute, breathless silence. Her knees shook, but her feet held.

"I'm standing," Sophia whispered, tears streaming down her face.

Beside her, Robert collapsed to his knees, sobbing uncontrollably.
