Previously: A terrified boy crashes Adrian's dinner, warning his food is poisoned. He claims a woman who called herself Adrian's wife swapped the plates. But Adrian's wife is dead — or is she?

Inside the Abandoned Church, Elena Was Waiting — and She Wasn't Alone

The old church on Miller Road had been abandoned for years. The windows were boarded up, the pews covered in dust, and the air smelled of rain and rot. Adrian pushed open the heavy wooden door, Noah still clutching his hand.

"Elena?" he called out. His voice echoed in the empty space.

For a moment, nothing. Then a figure stepped out from behind the altar. She was thinner than he remembered, her hair dull, her face pale. But her eyes — those eyes were still the same. They locked onto him with a mixture of relief and terror.

"Adrian." Her voice cracked. "You came."

He crossed the distance in three long strides. He wanted to hug her, to shake her, to demand answers. But all he could do was stare.

"They said you were dead," he breathed. "The car accident. The funeral. I wept at your grave, Elena."

"I know," she said. "I'm sorry. But I couldn't tell you. Vanessa would have killed you too."

"What are you talking about?"

Elena took a shaky breath. "Vanessa isn't who you think she is. She's not just my rival — she's a murderer. She killed my husband, Adrian. She poisoned him slowly over a year. And when she found out I knew, she tried to kill me too."

Adrian's blood ran cold. "The accident —"

"Was staged," Elena said. "She injected me with something. I woke up in a shallow grave. I barely dug myself out. I've been hiding ever since, waiting for the right moment to expose her."

"Why didn't you go to the police?"

"Because she owns them," Elena said bitterly. "She has half the city in her pocket. And she has proof of our affair, Adrian. She threatened to destroy you, to destroy me, to take Noah away from me. I had no choice."

Adrian ran a hand through his hair. "So you sent Noah to warn me?"

"I had to," Elena said. "She was going to kill you next. She needs your money, your company, your power. And she'll do anything to get it."

Noah tugged at Elena's sleeve. "Mom, she's here."

Elena's face went white. "What?"

"I saw her car outside," Noah whispered. "She followed us."

Before they could react, the door burst open. Vanessa stood in the doorway, silhouetted against the headlights of her black SUV. She was holding a phone in one hand and a syringe in the other.

"Well, well," she said, stepping inside. "Look what we have here. A little family reunion."

"Vanessa," Adrian said, stepping in front of Elena and Noah. "Put the syringe down."

"Why should I?" she said, her voice eerily calm. "You were never supposed to find out, Adrian. But this little boy had to ruin everything."

She looked at Noah, and her eyes went cold. "You should have let your mother die, kid."

Elena moved forward, her fists clenched. "Stay away from my son."

Vanessa laughed. "Your son? Oh, Elena. You really don't know, do you?"

Elena froze. "Know what?"

Vanessa's smile widened. "Noah isn't your son. He's mine."

The words hung in the air like a bomb. Adrian's head snapped toward Elena, then back to Vanessa. "What are you talking about?"

"Seven years ago," Vanessa said, "I had a baby. A little boy. I was young, poor, desperate. I gave him up for adoption. But I always kept tabs on him. And when I saw that Elena had adopted him, I knew I could use that against her."

Elena shook her head, backing away. "That's not true. Noah is my son. I raised him from a baby."

"You raised him," Vanessa said, "but you never gave birth to him. I did. And I have the paperwork to prove it."

Adrian's mind was spinning. He looked at Noah, who was crying silently, his small body trembling. He looked at Elena, who was pale as a ghost. And he looked at Vanessa, who was enjoying every second of their pain.

"Why?" Adrian finally managed. "Why all this destruction?"

"Because you chose her," Vanessa said, pointing at Elena. "You always chose her. Even when we were married, you were still in love with her memory. And I couldn't stand it. So I decided to take everything from you both. I took your first wife, Adrian. I took your son. And now I'm going to take your life."

She raised the syringe and lunged forward.

”

And now I'm going to take your life."She raised the syringe and lunged forward.
