Previously: When young Carter crashed his wealthy uncle's sunny garden reception to accuse his new aunt of poisoning the food, guests laughed—until a bodyguard stepped in with a shocking truth.

A Trap Well Sprung

For a long, agonizing moment, Lawrence stood motionless. Then, slowly, the fear vanished from his face, replaced by a calm, steady smile that caught Diana completely off guard. He looked at his wife, shaking his head with a mixture of pity and resolve.

"You always underestimated Gregory, Diana," Lawrence said softly.

Gregory stepped forward, pulling a small digital recording device from his pocket and displaying a live feed of the estate's security system. On the screen, a team of plainclothes police officers was already waiting just inside the guest house.

"We knew about Julian three weeks ago, ma'am," Gregory explained calmly. "The moment we discovered your secret meetings, we switched Mr. Sterling's heart medication with harmless vitamins. You haven't been poisoning him at all. And today, we let you proceed just to catch you in the act of attempted murder before dozens of witnesses."

Diana’s eyes widened in absolute horror as two police officers emerged from the side terrace, marching quickly toward her. She tried to run, but Gregory quickly and professionally handcuffed her as the crowd of high-society guests gasped in shock. She was led away in tears, her dreams of wealth and power shattered forever.

Lawrence walked over to young Carter, who was still shaking from the adrenaline. Lawrence knelt down to his nephew's eye level and pulled the brave boy into a tight, emotional embrace.

"You saved my life, Carter," Lawrence said, his voice thick with tears. "Your father would be so incredibly proud of you. You will never have to go back to that boarding school, and you will always have a home with me."

As the guests began to quiet down and the reality of the situation settled in, Lawrence realized that true wealth was not measured by the size of an estate or the prestige of a guest list, but by the loyalty and love of those who stand by you when the shadows close in.

The End
