Thomas didn't even blink. He adjusted his cuffs, offering the pilot a cold, patronizing smile that didn't reach his eyes.

"No problem at all, Captain," Thomas replied smoothly, his voice dripping with false charm. "My wife is just a little afraid of flying. Now, if you'll excuse us, we have a first-class flight to catch."

He attempted to push past, but Robert didn't budge. Standing over six feet tall, the pilot stood like an immovable wall. Robert had seen all kinds of passengers in his twenty-five years of flying, but the sheer terror radiating from the young woman in the oversized hoodie was something he could not ignore. He noticed the purple bruising peeking out from beneath the hood, and the way her entire body trembled.

"Ma'am, are you okay?" Robert asked gently, looking directly into Sarah's eyes. "Are you boarding this flight of your own free will?"

Sarah opened her mouth to speak, but the words caught in her throat. She looked at Thomas, whose grip tightened on her arm so hard his knuckles turned white. It was a silent, threatening warning.

"She said she's fine," Thomas snapped, his polite facade cracking. "Do you know who I am? I am a premium member of this airline. I fly hundreds of thousands of miles with you. If you delay this flight because of some ridiculous delusion, I will personally see to it that you lose your wings."

The threat was loud enough to draw the attention of the gate agents. A tense silence descended upon the jet bridge. Thomas thought his wealth and status would intimidate the pilot. He was used to buying his way out of every situation, shielding his abusive behavior behind a wall of money and influence.

But Captain Robert didn't flinch. Instead, he reached for his radio.

"Ground control, this is Captain Robert on Flight 442. We have a security situation at the bridge. I need airport police at Gate 14 immediately."
