Previously: When Julianna kicked a homeless woman begging at her luxury wedding, she didn't expect her wealthy father-in-law to push her into the mud—or expose a devastating family secret.

The Price of Cruelty

Julianna’s face drained of color, the mud on her skin making her look ghostly. She stammered, trying to find words to repair the catastrophic damage she had just caused.

"Arthur, I... I didn't know! I thought she was just a homeless trespasser trying to steal from us! Please, you have to understand, I was stressed about the ceremony..." she pleaded, taking a step forward.

But Thomas stepped back, looking at Julianna as if seeing her for the very first time. The beautiful, elegant woman he thought he loved was gone, replaced by someone cold and heartless.

"If she were a stranger, Julianna, would that have made it okay to kick her?" Thomas asked, his voice hollow. "Is that how you treat people who have nothing?"

Julianna reached out to touch his arm, but Thomas shook her off. He looked at his father, who was already wrapping his navy suit jacket around Eleanor's shivering shoulders. Thomas turned back to the woman in the ruined tulle dress.

"The wedding is over, Julianna. Get off our estate, and don't ever contact me again," Thomas said quietly but firmly.

The guests watched in silence as Julianna, sobbing and covered in filth, was escorted off the property by security. There would be no reception, no vows, and no celebration. Instead, the family gathered inside the estate house, focusing all their love and attention on Eleanor. Over the next few weeks, with proper medical care and the warmth of her reunited family, Eleanor’s condition stabilized. Though her memories of the past were fragmented, she knew she was safe and loved.

As for Julianna, her reputation in high society was permanently tarnished. The video of her cruel act and subsequent fall into the mud went viral, serving as a harsh lesson to everyone who saw it. She had valued her perfect wedding day over basic human decency, and in doing so, she lost everything. Ultimately, true elegance cannot be bought with a vintage gown; it is found in the kindness we show to those who can offer us nothing in return.
