Previously: When twelve elite engineers failed to fix our prototype, a quiet janitor stepped forward. I made a reckless promise, never expecting him to actually save my family's legacy.

The True Legacy

The guards hesitated, looking between Marcus and Eleanor. Sensing the shift in power, Eleanor snatched the flash drive from James's hand and plugged it directly into the lab's main console. Within seconds, the true history of Vance-Aero Tech flashed across the giant screens. It was undeniable. Marcus had not only framed James's father a decade ago, but he had also doctored the security footage tonight to hide his own embezzlement scheme.

"It's over, Marcus," Eleanor said, her voice ice-cold. "Security, escort my former fiancé out of this building. And call the police."

As the guards dragged a shouting Marcus away, the remaining engineers quietly slipped out of the room, leaving Eleanor and James alone in the humming lab. Eleanor looked at the man she had dismissed as a simple janitor, realizing he was the true heir to the empire she ran.

"I suppose my father and Marcus owe your family everything," Eleanor said softly, looking down at her hands. "And... I believe I made a promise to you. A promise of marriage."

James walked over to his broom, picking it up with a gentle smile. "You made that promise to a janitor to save your company, Eleanor. But I don't want a marriage based on a desperate bargain. I want to rebuild this company with you, as partners. The right way."

Eleanor felt a warmth in her chest she hadn't felt in years. She reached out, taking his hand. "Partners it is. To a new beginning."

Years later, Vance-Aero Tech became the world's leading green energy pioneer, led by a brilliant engineer and the woman who learned that true worth is never defined by the clothes a person wears.
