Before the laughter could completely sweep the room, a powerful voice cut through the noise. "Get away from my wife!" Marcus, my husband, pushed his way through the circle of amused onlookers. His face was pale with fury as he knelt beside me, gently checking my swollen ankle. When he looked up at Justin and Brittany, his eyes were cold as ice. The cheering died down instantly, replaced by an uncomfortable murmur as the guests realized this wasn't a joke.

Justin scoffed, waving a hand dismissively.

"Oh, come on, Marcus, don't be a party pooper. It was just a joke! Stephanie is fine, she's just dramatic."

Brittany rolled her eyes, crossing her arms.

"Exactly. She tripped because she was probably drinking too much. She ruined my grand entrance anyway."

Marcus stood up slowly, towering over my brother. "She wasn't drinking, Justin. She collapsed from sheer exhaustion. Do you want to know why she's exhausted?" Marcus's voice echoed off the barn's wooden rafters, commanding the attention of every single guest.

Justin frowned, looking uneasy.

"What are you talking about?"

Marcus pulled a folded piece of paper from his jacket pocket and held it up for everyone to see. "Stephanie has been working double shifts for three weeks straight because your precious bride's credit card declined for the venue's final balance. The owner was going to cancel this entire wedding three days ago. Stephanie secretly paid the remaining ten thousand dollars of her own savings so you could have your dream day. And this is how you thank her? By stomping on her head and kicking over her while she's injured?"
