"Please,"

Garrett muttered, his voice cracking as the reality of the situation set in. The crowd of students gasped, shocked to see the school's most feared bully reduced to a begging child.

"Toby, don't do this. If this gets out, my dad goes to prison. My scholarship... my life is over."

Toby looked at the boy who had spent years making his life a living hell. He felt a surge of anger, a desire to crush Garrett the way Garrett had crushed so many others. But as he looked at the wet, sticky keyboard of his laptop, Toby realized that becoming a monster wouldn't cure the pain his family had suffered. He wanted justice, not just petty revenge.

"I'm not going to leak this to the media,"

Toby said, his voice echoing in the quiet room. Garrett let out a breath of relief, but Toby quickly cut him off.

"Not if your father does the right thing. He has twenty-four hours to turn himself in, confess to the embezzlement, and publicly clear my mother's name. If he doesn't, this drive goes straight to the District Attorney and the local news."

Garrett nodded frantically, tears welling in his eyes.

"He will. I'll make him. I swear."

"And one more thing,"

Toby added, pointing to his ruined computer.

"You're going to buy me a new laptop. And until graduation, you are going to carry my books and apologize to every single person you've ever crossed in this school. Do we have an agreement?"

"Yes,"

Garrett whispered, bowing his head in total defeat.

Toby grabbed his backpack, leaving the ruined laptop on the table, and walked out of the cafeteria. For the first time in years, his head was held high. He was still dripping with sticky orange soda, but he had never felt cleaner.
