Tears welled in Richard’s eyes as the pieces of the puzzle violently crashed together. The girl standing before him, starving and desperate, was his own granddaughter. Richard immediately called for medical assistance to check on the children. That night, he brought Lily and Leo to his large, empty home. He prepared a warm feast and tucked them into comfortable beds that had been waiting for family for far too long. The vintage doll, Clara, was placed safely on the mantelpiece, a symbol of a painful past but also a bridge to a beautiful future.

Richard realized that his wealth meant nothing without family, and he vowed to spend the rest of his days giving his grandchildren the love and security they deserved.
