The Cafeteria Bully Poured Soda on Him, but His Quiet Revenge Ruined Everything
Cody sat at the corner table of Oak Creek High’s bustling cafeteria, the hum of hundreds of students fading into background noise as he focused on his laptop screen. He wore his favorite dark green hoodie, the hood pulled up slightly to block out the distractions. For weeks, Cody had been keeping his head down, working on a complex coding project that could secure his future. But in a high school ruled by social hierarchy, quiet students were often mistaken for easy targets.
Suddenly, a shadow fell over his table. Before Cody could look up, a cold, sticky deluge of cola cascaded over his head, soaking through his hood and dripping down his face. The hum of the cafeteria died instantly.
Standing over him was Mason, the school's star quarterback, wearing his pristine black varsity jacket. Mason held an empty paper cup, a malicious grin plastered across his face.
"What's the matter, boy? Cat got your tongue?"
Mason sneered, looking around to invite the crowd's laughter. A few of his teammates chuckled, but most of the room watched in tense silence.
Cody sat perfectly still for a moment. He closed his eyes, feeling the cold liquid slide down his forehead and drip off the tip of his nose. Beneath the wet fabric of his hood, a quiet, burning fury ignited. He didn't cry. He didn't yell. Instead, he slowly stood up, letting his towering frame match Mason's height. He wiped the soda from his eyes and looked directly into the bully's smug face.
"Are you done?"
Cody asked, his voice steady and deadly calm.
Mason’s smirk wavered for a fraction of a second, but he quickly recovered his arrogance.
"Good,"
Mason replied, tossing the empty cup onto Cody's ruined laptop.
Cody’s gaze locked onto Mason’s eyes, intense and unyielding.
"Now it's my turn,"
Cody whispered.
