Previously: When Chloe came home early to surprise her husband, she found her own sister under the sheets. But the ultimate betrayal was a calculated plot to steal everything she owned.

The Ultimate Betrayal

Sarah scrambled backward on the bare mattress, clutching her white satin slip to her chest. But to Chloe's horror, the initial shock on her sister's face quickly melted into a cold, defiant sneer. Before Chloe could speak another word, the master bathroom door opened, and Mark stepped out, casually tying a towel around his waist. He didn't look remorseful. He didn't even look surprised.

Instead, Mark walked over to the bed, stood beside Sarah, and looked at Chloe with an expression of utter contempt.

"There's no need to scream, Chloe," Mark said, his voice dripping with cold indifference. "You're only making a fool of yourself. Besides, this isn't your house anymore."

Chloe stared at her husband, her mind reeling. "What are you talking about?" she whispered, her hands shaking. "My father left this house to me. We built our lives here."

Sarah let out a harsh, mocking laugh as she reached into her designer handbag resting on the nightstand. She pulled out a thick manila envelope and tossed it onto the mattress. It landed with a heavy thud between them.

"Read it and weep, little sister," Sarah sneered. "That is the real, finalized version of Dad's will. The one he signed in his final days at the hospital, before his mind went soft. He realized you weren't capable of managing the estate, so he left the house and the family business to me."

Mark stepped forward, his eyes gleaming with a sinister satisfaction.

"I only married you because we thought the initial draft of the will was the legally binding one,"
he admitted without a shred of shame.
"But Sarah found the signed copy last month. I've been playing the doting husband just long enough to ensure we had all our legal ducks in a row. You have twenty-four hours to pack your things and get out of our house."

The depth of their cruelty was staggering. They had not only betrayed her marriage; they had conspired to steal her entire life's legacy.
