Eleanor gasped, dropping her bowl of pretzels. They scattered across the wet, soapy marble like broken promises. Her face paled as she stared at Richard, who stood in the doorway, his eyes burning with a rage she had never seen before. Lily let out a small cry and ran straight into her father's arms, burying her face in his pinstripe suit.

"Richard! You're home early," Eleanor stammered, quickly trying to smooth down her hair and regain her composure. She forced a nervous, high-pitched laugh. "I was just... we were just cleaning up a little mess. Lily spilled her juice, and I was trying to teach her some responsibility. You know how dramatic she can get."

Richard held his daughter tightly, feeling her tiny body tremble against his chest. He looked down at the raw, red skin on her hands, then glared up at the woman he had sworn to cherish. Without a word, he pulled out his phone and turned the screen toward her, playing the live recording of her cruelty.

Eleanor’s eyes widened. For a second, fear flickered in her gaze. But as she realized she was caught, her demeanor underwent a chilling transformation. The fragile mask of the loving stepmother slipped away completely, revealing a cold, calculating woman. She crossed her arms and laughed mockingly.

"So you saw it. What are you going to do about it, Richard?" she sneered. "Are you going to throw me out of my own house?"

Richard frowned, a knot tightening in his stomach. "This is my house, Eleanor. And you are going to pack your bags."

She stepped closer, her voice dripping with venom. "Check the deed, darling. In your rush to marry me, you signed this property and your primary accounts over to my trust as part of our prenuptial agreement. If you try to divorce me, I will take everything. I'll tie you up in court for years, and I will make sure you never get custody of Lily."
