Richard stepped between Thomas and the frightened children, his presence radiating immense authority.

"Take your hands off my grandchildren,"

Richard pulled out his phone, dialed a number, and put it on speaker.

"Marcus, I need my legal team at the corner bakery on Elm Street immediately. Also, contact the police regarding child endangerment and extortion,"

he commanded. He then looked directly into Thomas's eyes.

"My name is Richard Vance. I own the Vance Corporation, which happens to own the very building you live in, and the entire block we are standing on. By tomorrow morning, you will be evicted, bankrupt, and facing criminal charges for abusing these children."

Thomas’s face drained of color. Recognizing the billionaire's name, his bravado vanished instantly. He dropped his hands, stumbled backward, and fled the bakery in a panic, leaving the crumpled paper behind. The bakery was dead silent.

Richard turned to Sarah, who was trembling behind the counter.

"Kindness costs nothing,"

he said softly but firmly.

"But today, your lack of it cost you your job. I am buying this bakery, and tomorrow, a new manager will ensure no hungry child is ever turned away."

Richard knelt back down and wrapped Toby and Lily in a warm, fierce embrace. For the first time in years, the children felt safe. "You are coming home with me," Richard whispered, wiping away their tears. "You will never have to beg for anything ever again."
