Richard groaned on the pavement, the wind completely knocked out of him as Officer Sarah swiftly pinned his arms behind his back and clicked the handcuffs into place. "Stay down!" she commanded, her voice ringing with authority. She then turned her attention to Martha, gently helping the trembling woman to her feet. Martha was still sobbing, her fingers still locked in a death grip around the old blue knit blanket.

Arthur, seeing the tide turn, tried to quietly slip away toward his vehicle, but Sarah’s sharp eyes caught him. "Don't even think about it, sir," she warned, pointing to the curb.
