A Corrupt Husband Tried to Silence a Brave Doctor, But Her Brother Returned in Time
Previously: When Dr. Clara was cornered in a sterile hospital corridor by her powerful husband, she thought it was the end. But an unexpected savior and his loyal K9 had other plans.
The Dark Secrets of the Hospital
Marcus quickly helped his sister to her feet, his eyes scanning her for injuries.
"Are you okay, Clara? I came as fast as I could when I got your message,"he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. Clara hugged him tightly, still shaking. She had believed Marcus was thousands of miles away, but his unexpected return was the only thing that had saved her life.
Arthur groaned on the floor, clutching his fractured ribs, his expensive charcoal suit covered in dust. He glared at Marcus with pure hatred.
"You think you can save her, soldier boy? She has documents that belong to my firm. Documents she stole,"he spat, coughing up blood.
Clara pointed at the scattered papers on the floor. "They aren't his documents, Marcus. They are patient records," she explained, her voice gaining strength. "Arthur’s pharmaceutical company has been testing unapproved, highly dangerous drugs on vulnerable patients in this very hospital. I found the falsified consent forms. He’s bribing the administration."
Arthur laughed weakly, a sinister sound.
"No one will believe a disgraced doctor and a rogue soldier. I own the board of directors. I own the police chief. You have nothing."
Just then, the sound of heavy footsteps echoed from the stairwell. Arthur’s hired security guards, alerted by the commotion, were rushing to the floor. Marcus looked at Clara, then at his loyal German Shepherd, Max, who stood guard, growling at the approaching threat. They were outnumbered and trapped on the third floor of the secure wing. The evidence was scattered, and Arthur was already reaching for a hidden radio in his jacket to call for reinforcements. They had mere seconds to make a choice: flee and destroy the evidence, or stand their ground and risk everything.
