Previously: A raging tornado, a dying child, and a venomous bite. Can a small-town doctor overcome a condescending specialist and the fury of nature to save the governor's son?

The camera zoomed in, past the vibrating timbers, to the delicate work unfolding. Grace's dirt-streaked, steady fingers moved with practiced efficiency, ripping open Leo's thin hospital gown. Two small, dark hemorrhagic puncture marks appeared just below his clavicle. Vance watched, his composure beginning to crack. Grace spoke, her voice a cold, rapid-fire delivery of medical certainty.

"Congestive shock doesn't trigger cholinergic fasciculations, Vance," she declared, her eyes never leaving the boy. "It's an Eastern bark scorpion neurotoxin, and he has thirty seconds to live!"

The words hit Vance like a physical blow. His haughty smirk collapsed, replaced by a mask of paralyzed horror. Cold sweat beaded on his temple as his pupils dilated. The arrogance that had defined him moments before evaporated, leaving only raw fear. As if on cue, a fierce blast of wind ripped through the barn, tearing the door from its hinges and showering the hay bale with rain and debris. In his trembling panic, Vance dropped a glass vial, its contents spilling uselessly onto the muddy floor.

Grace, however, remained unfazed by the escalating chaos. Her jaw clenched hard as she snapped the head off an amber field ampoule with flawless, practiced economy of motion. The storm outside was a mere backdrop to the life-or-death drama unfolding within. The gulf between the seasoned rural physician and the panicked city specialist had never been wider, their contrasting reactions highlighting the stakes of the moment.
