"You don't understand. Emma has been refusing her physical therapy. She threw herself out of the chair just to get attention! I was only trying to encourage her to stand on her own."
Emma shook her head violently against Ryan’s chest, her silent tears soaking his ceremonial uniform. "That's not true, Ryan," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "She pushed me. She always does this when you're not here."
