The living room was silent except for Lily’s labored breathing and the groan of shifting plaster. Ryan lay groggy amidst the shattered drywall, clutching his shattered jaw in disbelief. He had spent years exerting total control over Lily, relying on her isolation to keep his cruelty a secret. He never expected her decorated older sister to arrive unannounced, let alone with the fury of a hurricane.

Major Stone ignored the groaning man and immediately dropped to her knees beside Lily.

"I’ve got you, baby sister. You’re safe now,"

Sarah whispered, her tough exterior melting into pure maternal protectiveness. She quickly dialed 911, her voice calm and authoritative as she reported the obstetric emergency. Every second counted; Lily was in premature labor, and the stress Ryan had inflicted was pushing her body to the brink.

Ryan struggled to his feet, wiping a smear of blood from his lip. He tried to puff out his chest, attempting to regain his dominant posture. "You can't just barge into my house and assault me! I'll have you court-martialed! I'll call the police on you!" he hissed, his voice trembling despite his threats.

Sarah stood up slowly, turning to face him. At nearly six feet tall in her combat boots, she towered over him, her eyes reflecting a cold, dangerous steel.

"Go ahead, call them,"

she challenged quietly.

"Let's tell them how you've been withholding Lily's medication. Let's show them the bank statements I found showing you drained her personal savings while she was bedridden. I've been tracking your little games from overseas, Ryan. You thought she was alone, but she always had me."

Ryan’s face drained of color. The realization that his financial abuse and neglect had been documented sent a shiver of terror down his spine. He took a step back, suddenly realizing he was completely outmatched, both physically and legally.
