The Clash at the Gala

The grand ballroom of the Ashford Estate was a spectacle of light and luxury. Glittering crystal chandeliers cast a warm, golden glow over the high-society guests who mingled in their finest attire. But in the center of the polished parquet floor, a storm was brewing. Eleanor, the formidable matriarch of the family, stood tall in a striking emerald green gown. Her eyes flashed with aristocratic rage as she stared down at Sarah, a young, trembling woman clutching a sleeping infant to her chest.

"You do not belong here, girl," Eleanor hissed, her voice cutting through the soft murmur of the crowd. "You have spent months trying to claw your way into our family, but you are nothing."

Nearby, Thomas, dressed in his decorated ceremonial military uniform, froze. His champagne glass slipped from his fingers, shattering on the floor. He dropped to his knees, his gloved hand reaching for the pendant. As his fingers closed around the intricate design, he gasped in sheer disbelief. "Impossible," he murmured. Standing up, Thomas thrust the silver crest directly in front of Eleanor's pale face, his voice trembling with fierce emotion: "Do you know whose blood this is?!"
