A Daughter Bursts Into Court with a Voice Recorder That Changes Everything
Previously: When her father's nanny was put on trial for murder, Olivia knew she couldn't stay silent. Armed with a hidden voice recorder, she exposed the real killer.
The Voice of the Dead
A collective gasp rippled through the gallery. Daniel immediately stood up to object, arguing that the device was unverified and inadmissible at this stage of the trial. However, Judge Martha, sensing the gravity of the moment, overruled the objection. She ordered the bailiff to retrieve the recorder and connect it to the courtroom’s audio system. Jessica sank back into her chair, her face draining of color as she gripped the edge of the table.
The sound system crackled to life. A heavy, rhythmic static filled the room, followed by the familiar, raspy voice of Arthur Vance. He sounded weak, coughing between words.
"Why does this tea taste metallic, Jessica?" Arthur’s voice asked from the speakers.
There was a brief silence on the recording, followed by Jessica’s cold, unmistakable chuckle.
"Because, Arthur, it is the last cup of tea you will ever drink," Jessica’s recorded voice replied, devoid of any warmth. "You should have signed the new will. Now, your sweet little nanny will take the fall for this. Everyone knows she prepares your medicine."
The courtroom fell into a stunned, breathless silence. On the recording, Arthur choked, gasping for air as Jessica coldly explained how she had planted the poison in Clara’s bedroom. The audio ended with the chilling sound of a door clicking shut.
Jessica leaped up, her eyes wild as she looked around the courtroom.
"This is a fabrication! A deepfake!" she screamed, but her voice betrayed her utter terror.
Daniel slowly stepped away from Jessica, raising his hands in disbelief. He realized in an instant that he had been representing a cold-blooded killer.
