Previously: A down-on-his-luck diver confronts a spoiled billionaire in a lavish restaurant, armed with a secret that could shatter his world. The tables are about to turn.

The Unveiling of Fortune

The tension in 'Le Grand Bleu' thickened, palpable as the salty air. Brock Henderson, basking in his perceived victory, smirked as he watched Arthur. He saw not a man of the sea, but a relic, a washed-up diver clinging to a fool's dream. Arthur, however, was done with the pleasantries. He took a deliberate step forward, the sound of his heavy boots on the floor echoing the storm's fury outside.

“The San José galleon was never a myth, Henderson.”

With a sudden, explosive force, Arthur slammed the titanium canister onto the polished mahogany table. The impact was violent, sending a shockwave through the wood. A crystal wine flute, perched precariously close, shattered with a sharp, resonant crack, its dark red contents splashing across Brock’s pristine white shirt. Brock flinched violently, recoiling against his leather chair, his eyes widening in startled panic. The smugness vanished, replaced by a dawning unease. He had underestimated Arthur, dismissing him as just another debtor.

Arthur’s eyes, usually filled with the quiet resolve of a deep-sea diver, now burned with a cold, calculated fire. He calmly reached for the canister, his scarred hands moving with practiced efficiency. He released the pressurized dual latches, a sharp pneumatic hiss of trapped deep-sea gas escaping into the opulent room. The sound drew the attention of the few other patrons, their conversations faltering.

He pulled forth his prize, a breathtaking spectacle that silenced the room. It was a 17th-century solid gold Spanish royal monstrance, a magnificent sunburst of heavy, pure gold. It was encrusted with uncut Colombian emeralds, still bearing the marks of the sea – barnacles clinging to its divine form. Its radiance, amplified by the restaurant's lighting, was almost blinding.

“Eighty million dollars of authenticated Spanish royal bullion.”

Brock Henderson stared, his breath hitched, his mind struggling to comprehend the sight. The arrogance that had defined him moments before had evaporated, leaving behind a shell of paralyzed horror. Cold sweat instantly beaded across his pale forehead as the staggering value, the sheer audacity of Arthur’s claim, hit him with the force of a rogue wave. His empire, built on shaky loans and inherited privilege, suddenly felt as fragile as the shattered crystal flute on the table.
