A Dirty Boy Crashed My Gala, and One Touch Unlocked My Forgotten Past
Previously: When a dirty, tearful ten-year-old boy crashed Clara's high-society gala, her husband tried to throw him out. But one touch of the boy's hand unlocked a truth she was never meant to remember.
A Web of Lies
The moment their fingers locked, the silent ballroom vanished from Clara’s mind. In its place, a torrent of forgotten memories rushed back with terrifying clarity. She saw a sunny park, a small boy laughing as he chased a puppy, and the sweet scent of baby powder. She remembered singing a lullaby about the stars. Most of all, she remembered the horrific night of the car accident—the blinding headlights, the sound of metal crushing, and her own desperate screams for her son, Leo, who was strapped in the backseat.
Clara looked at the dirty boy standing before her. The resemblance was undeniable. The shape of his eyes, the tiny birthmark on his wrist.
"Leo?"she whispered, her voice trembling with overwhelming shock.
"Familiar... because you used to hold mine."

Leo sobbed openly, squeezing her hand.
"Mommy! I knew you were alive! He told me you died!"he cried, pointing a trembling finger at Julian.
Julian’s face drained of color. The polite facade he had worn for five years cracked, revealing a desperate, cornered animal. He grabbed Leo’s arm roughly, trying to pull the boy away from Clara.
"Security! Get this street urchin out of here! He’s a delusional thief trying to scam my wife!"Julian roared, his voice echoing off the high ceilings.
But Clara held on to Leo with all the strength she possessed.
"Let go of him, Julian!"she screamed, her voice carrying a maternal authority she hadn't felt in years.
"He is my son! You told me he died in the hospital!"
Julian bent down close to Clara, his grip on her shoulder tightening painfully. Under the cover of the murmuring crowd, he hissed into her ear,
"If you don't shut up right now, Clara, I will have you committed to an asylum by morning. Your medical records are in my hands. You will never see this boy again. Choose your next words very carefully."
”Choose your next words very carefully."
