Previously: When twenty-one-year-old Leo stepped onto the ballroom floor on his carbon-fiber blades, his estranged father tried to throw him out—unaware that Leo held the key to destroying his empire.

The Confrontation

Richard stopped just feet away from the dancing couple, raising his hand to silence the orchestra. The music died instantly, leaving only the tense rustle of silk and the quiet murmur of shocked guests.

"What is the meaning of this?"
Richard hissed, his voice trembling with controlled rage.
"Leo, you were not invited. And you—"
he glared at Clara,
"have no right to bring this circus to my foundation's gala. Security, escort them out immediately."

The crowd gasped. Clara stepped forward, shielding Leo with a fierce, protective stance. She had been Leo’s physical therapist and mentor for years, the only one who believed in him when his own flesh and blood had abandoned him.

"We aren't going anywhere, Richard,"
Clara said, her voice clear and carrying across the silent hall.
"Leo has more right to be in this room than you do. In fact, he paid for it."

Richard scoffed, gesturing to the security guards who were closing in.

"He is a penniless boy who lives on charity. Don't make a scene, Clara. Leave quietly before I have you arrested."

Leo stepped up beside Clara, his carbon-fiber blades standing firm. There was no fear in his eyes, only a cold, hard resolve.

"I am not a boy anymore, Father,"
Leo said, the word 'Father' dripping with irony.
"And we aren't here to beg. We are here to ask where my mother's trust fund went. The one meant to cover my medical expenses and rehabilitation. The trust fund that mysteriously emptied the same year you launched this very foundation."

A collective murmur rippled through the ballroom. Richard’s face turned from angry red to a ghostly, pale white. He tried to speak, but the words caught in his throat as Clara pulled a thick manila envelope from the inner pocket of her pantsuit.
