Previously: Clara begged Lorenzo to open the sealed dossier, while Selena sneered. But the genetic proof inside didn't just expose a lie — it revealed a crime that would shatter the Moretti family forever.

"Clara?" Lorenzo's voice was sharp, worried. "What's going on?"

I pulled the microSD card from my pocket and held it up. Vincent's eyes widened for a split second before he masked it with a chuckle.

"More tricks? This is getting old," he said, but his hand was shaking as he reached for his wine glass.

"It's not a trick," I said, my voice steady. "It's a recording from the hospital security system — from the night my sister died."

Vincent's smile froze. "I don't know what you're talking about."

I played the audio. The room filled with the sound of Selena's voice: "Did you take care of the nurse?" And Vincent's reply: "She won't be a problem anymore."

Lorenzo shot to his feet, knocking his chair back. "Dad? What is this?"

Vincent's composure shattered. "She was going to ruin us! That baby—"

"That baby is my son!" Lorenzo roared, slamming his fist on the table. "You killed his mother? You helped Selena?"

"I did it for you!" Vincent shouted. "Do you think the board would accept a bastard heir? I was protecting the company!"

"You were protecting yourself," I said, pulling out the letter. "And you were willing to destroy anyone who got in your way."

Vincent lunged for me, but Lorenzo stepped between us, his face a mask of fury. "Get out of my house."

"You can't—"

"Now."

Vincent stumbled backward, his eyes darting around the room as if searching for an ally. But there was no one left. The staff had frozen, the security guards were closing in.

As they escorted him out, I felt a strange sense of peace. The truth was out. But there was one more thing.

"Lorenzo," I said softly, "there's something else. My sister's letter... it explains everything."

He turned to me, his eyes glassy. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

"I needed to be sure. I needed proof."

He pulled me into a tight embrace, his body shaking. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry I didn't see it."

We stood there for a long moment, Nico cooing in the bassinet behind us. The nightmare was over, but the healing was just beginning.

"What do we do now?" I asked.

"We tell the truth," he said, his voice firm. "To the board, to the press, to everyone. And we give Nico the family he deserves."

I nodded, tears streaming down my face. For the first time in months, I felt a glimmer of hope.

As we walked out of the dining room, hand in hand, I looked back at the chess set on the sideboard. The king was still unscrewed, lying on its side.

"What about your father?" I asked.

"He'll face justice," Lorenzo said. "But first, let's take our son home."

And in that moment, I knew that no matter what came next, we would face it together. The truth had set us free — and it had given us a family stronger than any lie.
