Previously: When Dr. Michael stepped in to save a crying little girl and her grandfather from being kicked out of his hospital, he never expected to face the father who vanished years ago.

A Long-Lost Confrontation

The chaotic hospital lobby seemed to vanish as father and son locked eyes. But there was no time for a tearful reunion. Lily let out a sharp, wheezing gasp, collapsing against Arthur’s legs. Michael’s medical instincts kicked in immediately.

Get a gurney over here, now!

he shouted to the nearby nurses. Within minutes, Lily was rushed into the pediatric ICU, with Michael administering life-saving treatment for her severe, acute asthma attack. Arthur watched through the glass window, his heart in his throat, praying for the little girl who was his entire world.

Once Lily’s breathing stabilized and she fell into a peaceful sleep, Michael walked out of the room, his expression a mix of anger and confusion. He led his father into a private office and slammed the door shut.

Ten years, Dad,

Michael said, his voice trembling with suppressed rage.

You walked out on Mom and me when she was sick. I had to watch her pass away while working two jobs just to survive. Now you show up here, begging for charity?

Arthur looked down at his calloused hands, his shoulders slumped under the weight of his son's hatred.

I never walked out on you, Michael,

Arthur said softly.

Your mother’s medical bills were astronomical. The bank was going to take our home, and your uncle threatened to cut off all family support if I stayed. I had to make a choice to save your future.

Michael scoffed, shaking his head.

A choice? You disappeared! I had to pay my way through medical school alone.
You didn't pay for it alone,

Arthur whispered, looking up with tear-filled eyes.
