The air in the first-class VIP lounge was thick with the scent of expensive coffee and unspoken tension. Outside, the storm raged, rain lashing against the floor-to-ceiling glass walls, turning the tarmac lights into a blurry, psychedelic spectacle. Inside, Dr. Damian Knox, all silver-streaked hair and sneering aristocratic features, stood over Dr. Elena Vance. Her weathered field jacket and mud-caked boots were a stark, unwelcome contrast to the mirror-polished Carrara marble. Nearby, Julian, the Governor's son, convulsed violently, his lips a terrifying shade of cyanotic blue.

A Doctor's Disdain

Damian swirled his espresso, his manicured finger jabbing towards Elena’s boots. "Track your barnyard filth back to coach, girl," he sneered, his voice a venomous whisper. "Real medicine requires pedigree, not swamp mud." Elena remained silent, her jaw tight, her intense hazel eyes fixed on Julian. His sudden, ragged gasp tore through the opulent quiet. Damian, mistaking the signs for anaphylaxis, rushed to the boy, fumbling for an epinephrine auto-injector. "Acute anaphylaxis! Clear back immediately, I'm injecting five hundred micrograms of epinephrine!" he proclaimed, his arrogance bordering on panic. But Elena saw the truth in Julian’s pinpoint pupils and the subtle fasciculations of his neck muscles. This was no allergy.
