The midnight sky wept onto the tarmac, each raindrop streaking the vast, frosted glass walls of the Sterling Airways VIP lounge. Inside, the air was thick with the scent of old money and expensive cologne. Golden amber floodlights from the runway cast an ethereal glow, reflecting off the polished dark walnut paneling and brushed brass accents. This was Jason Vance’s world – a world of bespoke suits, diamond rings, and absolute entitlement. He was 28, with slicked-back hair that spoke of vanity, and a sneer permanently etched onto his face. Across from him, Arthur, a 24-year-old flight attendant, stood with the rigid discipline of his uniform – a navy and gold affair, impeccably pressed. Yet, beneath the starched collar and polished silver wings, a flicker of vulnerability betrayed the stern facade. Arthur had merely asked to verify Jason’s boarding pass, a routine procedure. For Jason, it was an unforgivable transgression. With a guttural snarl, Jason hurled a crystal goblet of vintage red wine. The crimson liquid exploded against Arthur’s chest and face, staining his pristine uniform, plastering his eyelashes. “Know your place, you pathetic peasant!” Jason’s voice dripped with venom. “You will never work another flight in your miserable life!” Arthur stood frozen, the wine a searing brand, his breath hitched, his eyes wide with shock. He could only manage a choked gasp as droplets cascaded from his chin.
