Emily cowered, shielding her face with her trembling hands. "Please stop! No more!" she pleaded, her voice cracking under the weight of her sheer terror. She had spent months walking on eggshells, but tonight, the fragile peace had shattered completely. She felt utterly isolated, convinced that no one would hear her cries in this lonely, run-down neighborhood.

Suddenly, the front door rattled on its hinges. Before Jason could turn, the door flew open with a deafening crash. Standing in the doorway was Thomas, an older military officer clad in a crisp olive-green uniform. His eyes locked onto the scene of domestic horror, flashing with instant, protective rage. Without a second thought, Thomas rushed into the room, his heavy boots thudding against the floor.

"Get away from her!" Thomas shouted, his voice carrying the absolute authority of a man trained for combat.

He grabbed Jason, pulling him away from Emily. Jason struggled violently, his face contorting with anger.

"Argh! Get off of me!"

he yelled, trying to break free. But Thomas was stronger, fueled by a deep-seated mission. With a swift, practiced motion, Thomas threw Jason to the carpet, pinning him down and pointing a stern finger.
