The Crimson Tears

The atmosphere inside L'Ambroisie was usually one of hushed elegance, filled with the soft clinking of crystal and the warm glow of amber pendant lights. But tonight, the upscale restaurant had become a stage for a horrific nightmare. Serena sat clutching her face, her body trembling with violent, hysterical sobs. When she pulled her hands away, the sight made the nearby diners gasp in terror. Thick, bloody red tears were streaming down her pale cheeks, staining her cream silk camisole. The pain in her eyes felt like liquid fire, blinding her and leaving her completely helpless.

Instead of offering assistance, Vanessa, the restaurant’s wealthy owner, marched over to the table. Dressed in a stunning emerald green silk dress, Vanessa’s face was twisted not with sympathy, but with absolute rage. She pointed a manicured finger aggressively toward the exit, her voice echoing off the high ceilings.

"Get out of my restaurant right now!" Vanessa screamed, her voice dripping with venom. "I won't have you making a scene and ruining my business with your pathetic drama!"

Beside her, Jonathan, Vanessa's husband and Serena's former fiancé, sat passively in his dark charcoal suit. He stared at his plate, refusing to meet Serena's pleading gaze. His cowardice was deafening. But Serena wasn't alone. Her uncle, Matthew, a mature and highly respected ophthalmic surgeon in a navy blazer, rushed to her side. He gently lifted her chin, his expression turning from worry to deep professional concern as he examined the crimson tracks on her face.

"What is that?" Matthew asked, his voice tight with alarm. "Serena, look at me. What did you put in your eyes?"

Through her tears, Serena could barely whisper. She pointed trembling fingers at her designer purse, where her daily eye drops were kept. She had no idea that a dark, calculated act of sabotage had just been set into motion.
