Richard’s smug smile began to falter, though he tried to maintain his arrogant posture. He walked down a few steps, holding Sarah’s hand tightly. He knew Arthur was wealthy, but Richard believed he had secured his legal fortress. He had spent months working with corrupt accountants to hide assets and manipulate the divorce settlement.

"Arthur, you're trespassing," Richard blustered, though his voice lacked its previous confidence. "The court awarded this estate to me. The deed is in my name, and your daughter has no claim to it. You can't just roll up here with your security detail and intimidate us."

One of the lawyers who had stepped out of the SUV, a sharp-eyed woman named Ms. Sterling, opened a leather briefcase and pulled out a thick stack of documents. She stepped forward, her heels clicking sharply on the stone driveway.

"Actually, Mr. Miller, you are mistaken," Ms. Sterling announced, her voice echoing across the courtyard. "We aren't here to dispute the divorce. We are here to execute the land trust agreement. The land this estate was built on was never yours to claim."
