The Executive Promised to Marry Her Janitor If He Solved the Impossible Engine
Previously: When a desperate CEO challenges a humble janitor to fix an impossible engine, she has no idea he is actually a disgraced genius holding a secret that could destroy her family legacy.
The Ghost of Apex Tech
The deafening hum of the fully operational Hyperion Engine filled the room, but the silence among the spectators was absolute. Evelyn stared at the glowing blue core, then at Robert, whose eyes had returned to their normal, deep brown. Before anyone could speak, the heavy security doors hissed open. The head of corporate security marched in, flanked by three armed guards, their weapons drawn.
"Step away from the machine!" the security chief shouted, pointing directly at Robert. He turned to Evelyn, his face grim. "Ma'am, we just ran a biometric scan on him. He isn't a registered janitor. His real name is Robert Vance."

A collective gasp echoed through the lab. The name Robert Vance was legendary at Apex Tech, but for all the wrong reasons. Five years ago, Vance had been the rising star of the engineering department, only to be publicly disgraced, accused of corporate espionage, and blacklisted from the entire industry. He had vanished without a trace.
Evelyn felt the blood drain from her face.
"Robert Vance? The man who tried to sabotage my father's legacy?"she whispered, her voice filled with sudden betrayal.
Robert stood his ground, his wrists held out as the guards slapped heavy steel handcuffs onto them. "I didn't sabotage anything, Evelyn," Robert said quietly, his voice steady. "Five years ago, your father’s design had a critical flaw that would have cost lives. When I refused to sign off on it, he framed me, stole my neural-link technology, and ruined my life to protect his stock prices."
The lead engineer stepped forward angrily. "He's lying to save himself! Arrest him!"
But Robert looked only at Evelyn. "The reason your twelve geniuses couldn't start this engine is because they were using your father's flawed blueprints. I just restored my original, safe design. Look at the telemetry. The engine is perfectly stable." Evelyn stared at the monitors, her mind racing as she realized the terrifying truth.
