The silence in the grand foyer was suffocating. Thomas looked at Victoria, his chest heaving with rising anger. "What is the meaning of this, Victoria?" he demanded, his voice dangerously low. "Why is my daughter scrubbing our floors?"

Victoria offered a dismissive, elegant shrug, swirling the red wine in her glass. "Well, darling, your precious daughter dropped out of her expensive college. I simply offered her a job so she could learn the value of a hard day's work. She was practically begging on the streets."

"That's a lie!" Chloe cried out, finally standing up, her hands red and raw from the harsh cleaning chemicals. "I never dropped out!"

Thomas rushed to his daughter's side, pulling her into a protective embrace. She was shivering, smelling of cheap bleach and expensive lavender soap. "Chloe, tell me what happened. I've been sending your tuition payments every semester. I thought you were ignoring my calls because you were still angry about the wedding."

With tears streaming down her face, Chloe revealed the horrifying truth. Six months ago, Victoria had contacted her, claiming that Thomas had decided to cut her off financially to focus on his "new family." Victoria had blocked Chloe's number on Thomas's phone and intercepted all of her letters. When Chloe was evicted from her dorm and left destitute, Victoria had approached her with a cruel ultimatum: work as an anonymous maid in the mansion, or starve on the streets.

"She told me you hated me, Dad," Chloe sobbed. "She said if I ever spoke to you directly, she would make sure you went bankrupt using the prenup."

Thomas felt a wave of nausea. He looked at Victoria, whose calm facade was finally beginning to crack under his murderous glare. The woman he had married was not a loving partner; she was a master manipulator who had systematically isolated his only child to secure his fortune for herself.
