Previously: When Andrew returned home on a stormy night, he found his terrified six-year-old son locked out in the freezing rain while his wife was inside with another man.

The Depth of Betrayal

The silence in the bedroom was suffocating, broken only by the sound of the storm outside and Andrew's heavy, ragged breathing. Julian scrambled out of the bed, desperately trying to gather his clothes. Andrew stepped into the room, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. For a moment, Julian looked terrified, but Andrew didn't waste his energy on violence. His priority was his son.

"Get out of my house," Andrew whispered, a cold, lethal quiet replacing his initial rage. "Before I make you regret ever stepping foot in this town."

Julian didn't need to be told twice. He grabbed his shoes and bolted past Andrew, practically throwing himself down the stairs and out into the rainy night. Rachel, now wrapped in a silk robe, tried to find her voice. Her eyes darted from the broken glass downstairs to the furious expression on her husband's wet face.

"Andrew, it’s not what it looks like," she stammered, stepping toward him. "Mason was supposed to be asleep. He must have snuck out to the patio. I... I just locked the sliding door so we wouldn't be disturbed."

Andrew stared at his wife, disgusted. She had locked their six-year-old son outside in a freezing rainstorm just to hide her infidelity. The sheer negligence was staggering. It wasn't just a betrayal of their marriage; it was a complete abandonment of her maternal instinct.

"He was screaming for you, Rachel," Andrew said, his voice cracking with emotion. "He was freezing. If I hadn't come home early, he could have gotten hypothermia. You didn't care about him. You only cared about yourself."

Rachel’s guilt quickly morphed into defensive anger. She realized her comfortable life was crumbling. "You can't prove anything!" she hissed. "If you try to leave with him, I'll call the police. I'm his mother, Andrew. No court will ever give a blue-collar mechanic custody over me!"

Andrew didn't argue. He walked downstairs, picked up a shivering Mason, and walked out into the night, determined to protect his son at all costs.
