Thomas carried Leo out of the suffocating ballroom, ignoring the whispers of the elite crowd. He retreated to his private study, with a trembling Elena following closely behind. Sarah stormed in a moment later, her elegant facade completely shattered. "This is an outrage, Thomas! You are letting a child and a manipulative maid ruin my reputation!" she hissed, her eyes wild with anger.

Thomas looked at his wife, seeing a stranger.

"Elena, tell me the truth,"

Thomas commanded, his voice deadly quiet.

"What happened in that hospital room while I was away on business?"

Elena wiped her tears, her voice shaking but resolute. She explained that Sarah had rarely visited Leo. On the few occasions she did, she only stayed long enough to take photos for social media to project the image of a doting mother. Once the cameras were off, Sarah would leave Leo alone in the dark, cold room for hours. When Leo cried, Sarah would lock his door from the outside, threatening him that if he told Thomas, she would make sure his father sent him away forever.

"I couldn't bear to see him suffer,"

Elena whispered, clutching her hands.

"I slipped past the nurses every night. I sang to him, held his hand, and promised him he wasn't alone. I knew I would lose my job if Mrs. Sarah found out, but I couldn't leave him."

Sarah laughed hysterically, trying to dismiss the allegations.

"She’s a liar! She wants your money, Thomas!"
