The silence in the bedroom was suffocating, broken only by Ethan's soft, trembling whimpers. The man scrambling out of the bed was none other than Trevor, Ryan's own business partner and a man he had trusted as a brother. "Get out of my house," Ryan whispered, his voice dangerously low. "Both of you. Now."

Heather finally found her voice, wrapping a sheet around herself as she stood up. "Ryan, please! It's not what it looks like! The door... the lock must have jammed. I didn't know Ethan was out there!" she pleaded, her voice ringing with desperate falsehoods.
