Previously: When teenage waiter Lucas defied his ruthless boss to help a battered man collapsing outside in the pouring rain, he lost his job instantly. But his kindness didn't go unnoticed.

Lucas sat on the freezing pavement next to the injured man, refusing to leave his side despite the bitter cold and the devastating realization that he no longer had a job. Inside the warm cafe, Trent stood by the window, a smug, self-satisfied sneer plastered across his face. To Trent, Lucas was just a foolish kid who didn't understand how the world worked.

"You don't have to stay here," the man in the leather jacket said, his voice stronger now. "You lost your job because of me."

Lucas shook his head, offering a weak but reassuring smile.

"A job can be replaced, sir. A life can't. I'm not leaving you out here alone."

The Arrival of the Black SUVs

Before the man could respond, the quiet street was illuminated by blinding high-beams. Three massive, pitch-black luxury SUVs tore around the corner, their tires spraying sheets of water as they screeched to a halt directly in front of the cafe. The sudden commotion drew Trent's attention; he pressed his face against the glass, his smug expression instantly dissolving into confusion.

The doors of the SUVs flew open simultaneously. Half a dozen tall, imposing men dressed in tailored dark suits stepped out into the pouring rain. They didn't seem to care about the weather. Instead, they rushed toward the wet sidewalk with an air of absolute urgency.

Lucas braced himself, unsure of what was happening. But to his utter astonishment, the lead security guard immediately knelt beside the bruised man in the leather jacket.

"Mr. Vance! We've been looking everywhere for you after the car was targeted," the guard said, his voice laced with deep respect and panic.

The bruised man, whom the guards called Mr. Vance, waved off their concern, using the lead guard's arm to pull himself up. He was no longer slouching; his posture became commanding, radiating power despite his torn clothes and battered face.

Inside the cafe, Trent's eyes widened in sheer terror. He recognized that name. Marcus Vance was the reclusive real estate tycoon who owned the entire harbor district—including the very building the Midnight Harbor Cafe leased.
