The air in the first-class VIP departure lounge was thick with the scent of expensive leather and hushed anticipation. Outside, a torrential downpour lashed against the floor-to-ceiling glass, transforming the runway lights into shimmering streaks of amber and cobalt. Gregory Thorne, a man whose florid face and scowling brow bespoke years of ingrained entitlement, loomed over Tommy Vance. Thorne, a burly factory foreman in a stained Carhartt jacket and mud-caked boots, radiated toxic arrogance. Vance, the young trainee, sat calmly, his lean frame and aristocratic jawline a stark contrast to the foreman’s brutish presence. A fluorescent safety vest, soiled with carbon soot, concealed a sharp Italian suit.

The Confrontation Begins

With a sudden, violent slam of his fist onto the brushed brass side table, Thorne shattered the lounge’s tranquility. A crystal tumbler overturned, spilling ice water across the mirror-polished marble. “A dirty steel mill trainee sneaks into the first-class lounge?” Thorne snarled, his voice a venomous rasp. “Hand over that safety inspection logbook before I shatter your jaw!”

Tommy Vance remained impassive, his hazel eyes fixed on Thorne with icy detachment. He held a digital tablet, its screen reflecting the dim amber light, his knuckles relaxed. He offered no response, no sign of fear, only a quiet, unnerving stillness.
