The Forged Will Shattered Her Smile When the Real DNA Test Arrived
Previously: Greedy Vanessa thought she'd stolen the Blackwood fortune with a fake waiver. But seven-year-old Lucas held the one thing she never expected—a sealed envelope that would destroy her in seconds.
The Safe Behind the Painting
After the officers left, the library fell into a heavy silence. Lucas watched his father pace, his custom suit suddenly looking too tight. The sticky note on the safe seemed to glow in the amber light.
"When did your mother write this?" Alexander asked, his voice hoarse.

"The week before she died," Lucas said. "She made me promise to open it with you. She said it would explain everything."
Alexander knelt before the painting—a landscape of their old lake house—and lifted it off the wall. Behind it, a steel safe gleamed. The combination lock was old, brass, with a small keyhole.
"I don't have the code," Alexander said. "Your mother never gave it to me."
Lucas pulled a thin chain from under his cardigan. On it hung a brass key, worn smooth from years of being touched. "She gave me this the day she died."
Alexander's hands trembled as he took the key. He fit it into the lock. A click. He turned it, and the safe door swung open.
Inside, a single manila folder sat beside a stack of letters tied with a blue ribbon. Alexander opened the folder and froze.
"What is it?" Lucas asked, stepping closer.
"It's a second will," Alexander whispered. "Signed and notarized three months before your mother's death." He read the first line aloud: "I, Eleanor Blackwood, being of sound mind, do hereby declare that the unsigned will I previously drafted is void—and that all my shares in Blackwood Aerospace shall pass to my son, Lucas, with my husband as sole trustee until his majority."
Lucas's breath caught. "So the will she said she burned—"
"Was a forgery," Alexander finished. "Vanessa must have planted a fake will to make it look like Eleanor had disinherited you. But this—this is real."
He pulled out his phone and dialed his lawyer. "Marcus? I need you at the estate now. And bring the forensic document examiner."
An hour later, Marcus arrived with a slim man in a grey suit. They examined the will under a UV lamp, comparing the signature to Eleanor's medical records.
"It's genuine," the examiner said. "The ink, the paper, the notary stamp—all match the date. This will supersedes any later document."
Marcus nodded. "But there's a problem. Vanessa's lawyer filed the forged will with the probate court this morning. It's already been accepted."
"Then we contest it," Alexander said. "We have proof of bribery and forgery."
"And we have something else," Lucas said quietly. He pulled a USB drive from the evidence pouch. "Mom made me record one last video. She said to use it if Vanessa ever came back."
Alexander plugged it into his laptop. On the screen, Eleanor's face appeared—pale, but smiling. She looked straight into the camera.
"Alexander," she said. "If you're watching this, then I'm gone. And that woman—she's already made her move. But I have one more secret. The one she never found."
Lucas watched his father's face break as Eleanor continued. "The Cayman account. The one I opened the year Lucas was born. It's not in my name. It's in Lucas's. And the password is the day we met."
Alexander laughed—a broken, hopeful sound. "The day we met," he repeated. "October 14th."
"She knew," Lucas said. "She knew Vanessa would come for everything. So she hid it where no one would look."
"But we're not done," Alexander said, his eyes hardening. "Vanessa's still out there. And she thinks she's won."
He stood, pulling Lucas to his feet. "Pack a bag, son. We're going to the probate court."
Lucas looked up at him. "What if the judge doesn't believe us?"
"Then we show him what your mother left behind," Alexander said. "And we make sure Vanessa never touches our family again."
