Previously: When ten-year-old Leo crashed a high-society gala to reach a wealthy woman in a wheelchair, her protective fiancé tried to throw him out—until a single touch shattered her amnesia.

The Web of Lies Unravels

The touch of the boy’s hand was like a key turning in a long-locked door. Clara’s breath caught in her throat, her chest heaving with an overwhelming wave of emotion. The touch felt so familiar, so profoundly right, that it sent shivers down her spine. The fog in her mind began to swirl, threatening to part and reveal the truth she had been denied for months.

Julian noticed the change in Clara’s expression, and panic flared in his eyes. He quickly stepped between Clara and the boy, his protective demeanor turning aggressive. He signaled to the burly security guards standing near the entrance.

"Get this street rat out of here!" Julian barked, his voice losing its usual polished charm. "He's clearly a disturbed runaway trying to exploit my fiancée's condition."

But the boy resisted, pulling away from Julian's harsh grip. He looked at Clara with absolute desperation, tears streaming down his face.

"Mom, please! Don't let him throw me away again!" the boy screamed. "It's me, Leo! He told me you died in the hospital, but I saw the news about the gala tonight! I ran away from the place he locked me in!"

A shockwave of whispers erupted among the wealthy guests. Clara’s heart hammered against her ribs. Leo. The name echoed in her soul. Julian had told her that Leo was dead, buried in a quiet cemetery she had never been allowed to visit due to her frail health. Yet here was a boy, the exact age her son would be, calling her mother.

Julian’s face turned pale. He lunged at the boy, trying to drag him away himself. But before he could, Leo reached into his dirty pocket and pulled out a small, tarnished silver locket. He held it up like a shield.

"You gave me this on my ninth birthday!" Leo sobbed. "Look inside, Mom!"

Julian made a desperate grab for the locket, his eyes wild. "Give me that, you little thief!" he hissed. But Clara, fueled by an instinct older than her amnesia, grabbed Julian's wrist. Her grip was surprisingly tight, stopping him in his tracks.
