Previously: A decorated general's future hangs in the balance as his grandson attempts to force him into an asylum. Unexpectedly, a powerful titan intervenes, revealing a deeper connection and a shocking plan.

An Unlikely Alliance

The air in the diner grew heavy, thick with unspoken history and Julian’s palpable resentment. The General’s quiet defiance had only fueled his grandson’s rage. Julian, unable to stomach the refusal, lunged forward, his intent clear – to physically force the General’s hand, to seize his collar and intimidate him into submission. But as his hand shot out, a blur of motion in the dim light, it was arrested with impossible force. A heavy hand, adorned with a striking onyx signet ring, clamped around Julian’s wrist like a hydraulic steel vice. The sickening thud echoed in the sudden silence, halting Julian’s aggressive advance mid-air.

Emerging from the shadowy booth opposite the General, a figure of imposing presence stepped into the dim light. This was Jason Vance, forty-five, a titan of the healthcare conglomerate industry. His athletic posture, sharp square jaw, and piercing graphite eyes spoke of power and control. He wore a bespoke charcoal Italian wool double-breasted overcoat, a platinum watch gleaming on his wrist. His grip on Julian’s arm was unbreakable.

“Take your filthy hands off the Supreme Allied Commander,”
Vance growled, his voice low and bone-chilling,
“before I shatter your arm.”

Julian’s arrogant smirk instantly warped into wide-eyed, paralyzed terror. The crushing grip forced him to his knees, his breath coming in ragged gasps. Vance, with his free hand, snatched the state asylum committal forms from the table. With a loud, violent tear, he ripped them down the center, letting the shredded paper flutter like dirty snow into Julian’s spilled coffee. The action was brutal, decisive, and utterly humiliating for the grandson.

“I own sixty luxury hospital towers across this continent, you pathetic parasite!” Vance declared, his voice laced with commanding, icy fury. Julian, clutching his bruised wrist against his chest, could only manage shallow, hyperventilating gasps, his lips pale and quivering. Vance then turned his hardened gaze towards the seated veteran. He stepped back, snapping his polished leather oxfords together with a sharp, resonant heel-click. In a gesture that seemed to bridge decades of service and sacrifice, he snapped a razor-sharp, textbook military salute to General Lily.

“General Lily, sir… Sergeant Vance reporting. Your battle is over, Commander.”

The General’s breath hitched. Sergeant Vance? The name resonated, unlocking a flood of memories. Decades of forgotten sacrifice washed over his proud, tear-glazed expression as he slowly pushed himself upright with his brass cane, like an undefeated titan rising from the ashes.
