Previously: Standing frozen in the winter cold, Chloe had no choice but to trust the mysterious biker who pulled up to her school. But she never expected the truth he carried.

The Truth Sets Her Free

Just as Chloe finished reading her mother’s heartfelt words, the heavy front doors of the lodge burst open. Richard marched in, flanked by two local police officers.

"There she is!"
Richard yelled, pointing a trembling finger at Chloe.
"I told you she was kidnapped by this gang! Arrest them all!"

The officers stepped forward, but Marcus remained perfectly calm. He stood up, hands raised slightly to show he was no threat, and gestured to a woman sitting at a nearby table. She was Sarah, a prominent local attorney and a member of the motorcycle club’s extended family. Sarah stepped forward, carrying a thick legal folder.

"Officers, there has been no kidnapping,"
Sarah stated calmly, handing over the documents.
"Chloe turned eighteen today. She is a legal adult. Furthermore, we have filed an emergency injunction regarding her mother's estate."

Richard’s face paled.

"That's a lie! I am her legal guardian and the sole executor of the estate!"
he screeched.

Sarah smiled coldly.

"Actually, we have the original, notarized copy of the late Mrs. Vance's will. The one you filed in probate court was a forgery. This authentic document names Marcus as Chloe's trustee and sole guardian in the event of her mother's passing, effective immediately. We also have bank records showing you have been embezzling from Chloe’s trust fund."

The police officers reviewed the official documents, their expressions turning grim. One of the officers turned to Richard, pulling handcuffs from his utility belt.

"Sir, you need to come with us. You're being detained pending an investigation into grand larceny and forgery,"
the officer said.

As Richard was led away in handcuffs, screaming threats that fell on deaf ears, a heavy weight lifted off Chloe’s shoulders. She looked at Marcus, who offered her a warm, genuine smile. For the first time in her life, she felt safe. She wasn't an orphan anymore; she had a whole family of brothers and sisters on two wheels ready to stand by her side. Sometimes, the family we need doesn't arrive in a luxury car—they ride in on two wheels, carrying the truth that finally sets us free.
