Previously: A wealthy baroness humiliates an orphan at a gala, but his birthmark and half-medallion expose a shocking truth: he's the missing twin of a billionaire's son.

A Mother's Last Letter, a Villain's Downfall, and Two Sons Reunited

Julian didn't sleep that night. He sat in his study with Ethan and Evan, watching the boys sleep side by side on the leather couch, their birthmarks pressed together. They looked like mirror images of the same soul.

Victoria came in with a cup of tea, her eyes red. 'I called the police,' she said softly. 'They're reopening Margaret's case. The car accident was ruled accidental, but—'

'But Astrid was there,' Julian finished. 'She was seen leaving the scene.'

Ethan stirred, opening his eyes. 'What does that mean?'

Julian knelt beside him. 'It means, son, that your mother may have been murdered. And the woman who did it is the same woman who tried to ruin you tonight.'

Ethan's face hardened. 'The Baroness.'

'Yes,' Julian said. 'And she's not going to stop. She knows you're alive. She knows you have the medallion.'

Evan sat up, rubbing his eyes. 'What does the medallion do? Why does she care so much?'

Julian pulled out his phone and opened a scanned document. 'Margaret left a letter with her lawyer. It explains everything.'

He read aloud: 'To Julian and Victoria — if you ever find Ethan, know that Astrid Von Berg has been siphoning money from the Rosewood Foundation for years. She used the orphanage as a front, taking kickbacks for every child she 'placed.' When I discovered the fraud, she threatened to reveal that Evan was adopted. I refused to keep silent, so she had me followed. The night of the accident, I saw her car. She ran me off the road.'

Ethan's hands shook. 'She killed my mother.'

Julian nodded. 'And she tried to kill your memory too. She convinced the orphanage that you were a foundling with no family, so no one would ever look for you.'

Victoria wrapped her arms around both boys. 'But now we know. And now she's going to pay.'

The next morning, Julian called a press conference. Ethan stood between his parents, Evan at his side, as Julian announced the truth to the world.

'Ethan is my son,' Julian said, his voice steady. 'He was taken from us by a lie. And the woman who told that lie is Baroness Astrid Von Berg.'

The crowd gasped. Cameras flashed. Astrid, standing in the back, tried to slip away — but police officers blocked her path.

'Baroness Von Berg,' the lead detective said, 'you're under arrest for the murder of Margaret Rosewood and for fraud against the Rosewood Foundation.'

Astrid's face went pale. 'You have no proof!'

Julian held up a folder. 'I have the letter, the financial records, and a witness who saw you at the scene. It's over, Astrid.'

As she was handcuffed, Astrid locked eyes with Ethan. For a moment, her gaze was cold — then it crumbled into something almost human. 'I didn't mean for her to die,' she whispered. 'I just wanted her to stop.'

Ethan didn't answer. He just turned away, holding his brother's hand.

That evening, the Rosewood family gathered in the garden. Ethan and Evan sat on a stone bench, the ivory knight and king pieces finally united on the table between them.

'Do you think Mom is watching?' Evan asked.

Ethan looked up at the stars. 'I think she never stopped watching. She just needed us to find each other.'

Julian and Victoria joined them, wrapping the boys in a warm embrace. 'You're both home,' Victoria said, her voice breaking. 'Both of you are home.'

Ethan let himself cry, not from sadness, but from relief. He wasn't alone anymore. He had a family. He had a future. And for the first time in his life, he knew exactly where he belonged.

As the night deepened, Ethan looked at his half-medallion — now whole, the ruby crest gleaming in the moonlight. Somewhere, he knew, his mother was smiling.

'She gave us the medallion so we'd never forget,' Ethan said softly. 'But now we don't need it to remember. We have each other.'

Julian squeezed his shoulder. 'And you always will.'

The boys leaned into each other, two halves of a whole, finally complete. And in the quiet of the garden, under a sky full of stars, the Rosewood family began to heal.
