Previously: A barefoot orphan crashes a high-society gala, clutching a half-medallion. When he locks eyes with a billionaire’s twin son, the room goes silent — and the truth shatters everything.

The bank manager looked at the key, then at our faces, and his hands trembled.

'This box hasn't been opened in eight years,' he said, leading us down a narrow corridor lined with brass doors. 'It was sealed by a court order, but you have the key — so you have the right.'

Lucas and I pressed our palms against the cold metal door. Together, we turned the key. The lock clicked, and the door swung open.

Inside was a single envelope, yellowed with age. And a small velvet box.

Madeline opened the envelope with shaking hands. A letter fell out, written in neat cursive. She read it aloud, her voice breaking with every word.

'To my darling sons — if you're reading this, I'm gone. But know that I loved you more than anything in this world. I was not your mother by blood, but I held you first, and I swore to protect you. The night you were born, I discovered a terrible secret: the woman who claimed to be your grandmother had paid to have one of you taken. I couldn't let that happen. So I swapped the babies myself — I gave the healthy one to the nurse who would raise him as her own, and I took the other with me. But I was dying. I had weeks left. So I hid you in an orphanage, and I left this key with the only person I trusted: a kind priest who promised to give it to you when you were old enough to understand.'

I was crying now, tears streaming down my face. Lucas was too. We held hands, our birthmarks touching.

The velvet box contained two rings. Each one had a falcon etched on top, and inside, the words: 'Together, we rise.'

Sebastian took a deep breath. 'Then you were never stolen,' he said softly. 'You were saved. By a woman who loved you enough to give you both a chance.'

Madeline pulled us into her arms again. 'We have two sons,' she whispered. 'We always did.'

The lawyer cleared his throat. 'The will states that the estate goes to the surviving twin and the one who found him. But since both twins are alive, and the finder was the boy himself, the estate is divided between the two boys — with the parents as trustees.'

Lady Vane, who had followed us, let out a strangled cry. 'That's not fair! I brought him to the gala!'

Sebastian turned to her, his eyes cold. 'You brought him to blackmail us. And now, you'll be hearing from my lawyers about the attempted theft of my family's heirloom.'

She backed away, her tiara askew, her champagne flute forgotten on the marble floor.

As the doors of the bank closed behind us, I looked at Lucas. He smiled at me, and I smiled back.

We were not just twins. We were two halves of a whole, finally complete.

And in that moment, I knew that the barefoot boy who had walked into the gala was no longer an orphan. He was a Cole. And he had a family that would never let him go.

Sometimes, the greatest gift is not a fortune — it's the truth that sets you free.
